2026 Tamil Nadu Election: Vijay Declares Fight Between TVK and DMK, Rejects BJP Alliance

Madurai: Actor-turned-politician Vijay delivered a blistering critique of Tamil Nadu’s major parties during the second state conference of his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), warning that the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has strayed far from founder MG Ramachandran’s vision and accusing the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of covertly aligning with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing an estimated 3 lakh-strong crowd, Vijay claimed that “innocent AIADMK workers are suffering in silence and know whom to vote for in 2026.” He urged party cadres to reject leadership that no longer reflects MGR’s ideals.
Attack on DMK and BJP Alleged Alliance
Vijay accused DMK of hypocrisy in its approach to BJP. “In public, they protest against Modi with black balloons; in power, they greet him with white umbrellas,” he said, dismissing BJP’s political plans in Tamil Nadu as ineffective.
He firmly stated that TVK would not enter into any underground alliance with BJP, instead building direct ties with the people: “We are a massive people’s army.”
Direct Challenge to Chief Minister Stalin
Calling the Chief Minister “Stalin Uncle,” Vijay questioned his government’s record on corruption, law and order, and public safety:
“We cannot be mute spectators, even if it is Stalin Uncle who is responsible.”
The remarks coincide with DMK’s campaign projecting Stalin as “appa” (father) ahead of elections.
Key Demands and Resolutions
Vijay pressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to retrieve Katchatheevu island to safeguard fishermen’s livelihoods.
Six resolutions adopted at the conference included:
♦ Opposition to the second greenfield airport at Parandur ✈️
♦ Demand for a bill against caste honour killings ✊
♦ Call for the Election Commission to ensure free and fair polls 🗳️
♦ Objection to outsourcing government services
Invoking Political Legacy
Pitching TVK as the primary rival to DMK in the 2026 Assembly polls, Vijay drew inspiration from former DMDK leader Vijaykanth, calling him “Karupu MGR” (Black MGR):
“I never met MGR, but I met my elder brother Vijaykanth, who delivered clean politics in Tamil Nadu.”
